EDDIE ‘The Eagle’ Edwards made a real Splash as he was crowned the first champion of Tom Daley’s ITV diving show last night.
The former ski jumper beat Benidorm star Jake Canuso, 33, and TV presenter Linda Barker, 51, after a public vote.
Chuffed Eddie had impressed the judges with his technically difficult dives into the pool.
The 49-year-old — who became the first person to represent GB in Olympic ski jumping in 1988 — dived off the 10-metre board after being told he had won the show.
He said: “It’s been fantastic and it’s been very painful, very difficult, very, very dangerous but I’ve loved every second.”
Olympic Bronze medallist and mentor Tom gave him his trophy and said: “He’s amazed me. I couldn’t be prouder. Don’t give it up, please!”
